MIGAL is an applied research center in biotechnology, environmental science, agriculture, food and nutrition, and biomedicine.  It employs over 80 scientists with Ph.D.s and nine foreign post-doctoral research fellows who visit for varying periods, financed by research foundations.  The staff includes more than 250 researchers, technicians, and research assistants, as well as 30 temporary workers. There are also 75 graduate students, all  of whom are residents of the Galilee.  Many researchers work in Ag-tech, environment, food and nutrition, biotechnology, and computer science.

MIGAL researchers and staff collaborate with companies and top research institutes, and  teach at dozens of schools in the Galilee as part of the Galilyom Venture and the Youth Academic Center at Tel Hai College.

Thousands of students from the Galilee benefit from working with scientists in workshops and projects, and tours guided by MIGAL researchers and staff.
